Research
Understanding how the target audience are and the client's background. Researching on an item which not very known to people and can be a souvenirs for both tourist and local. Something meaningful and has a background story attached to Singapore history.
Moodboard, Sketches and Prototype
Sketches are for the outer package and the prototype is for the headgear. As it was my first time folding i folded a smaller prototype version before actually folding it.
Designing
Using Adobe Illustrator to create the outer packaging using the inspiration of the 'kayu jati' i tried mimicking it using illustrator. The instruction and story ticket was created in Procreate. It was easier to sketch it there and mimic the old paper texture look.
Assembly process
It was harder than i thought when comes to the folding of PVC as it was way too thick, i chose the wrong thickness. Other than that the overall look was what i intended it to look like.
